The Jaipur National University (JNU), Jaipur is a NAAC A+ graded institution, which was established in 2007. It was visited by an expert panel of UGC members in 2008 which accorded approval to all the programmes under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act. All courses offered by JNU Jaipur are approved by statutory bodies (AICTE, NCTE, PCI, INC, BCI, ICAR, MCI/NMC). Within a few years, JNU Jaipur became the first private university to be NAAC-accredited and is a member of the AIU. Its experienced faculty, regular expert lectures, and national/international tie-ups have earned top rankings in India Today surveys for infrastructure, quality of education, faculty, research, and employability.
Malaviya National Institute of Technology, Jaipur (MNIT Jaipur) is an Institute of National Importance established in 1963. Emphasizing engineering and science, it offers undergraduate through doctoral programs and hosts multiple centers of excellence. Its Physics department (DST-FIST supported) advances research in condensed matter, cosmology, energy systems, and nuclear physics, while providing high-quality physics education in Jaipur, Rajasthan.
Birla Institute of Technology – Jaipur Campus (BIT Jaipur) is an off-campus of BIT Mesra, established in 1995. It offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in engineering and sciences under BIT Mesra’s academic guidance. Initially focused on Computer Science, it now includes doctoral programs in Physics, Electronics, and Multimedia, fostering research and innovation through modern labs and industry-oriented projects.
National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI) is the oldest national science academy in India, founded in 1930 and headquartered in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. Its mission is to provide a forum for publication of Indian scientific research and scholarly exchange. NASI publishes the “Proceedings of NASI” (Sections A: Physical Sciences; B: Biological Sciences) and “Science Letters,” supporting scientists and promoting advances in physics and other disciplines nationwide.
Centre for Excellence in Quantum Science (CEQS, Jaipur) operates under the Rajasthan chapter of the Indian Association of Physics Teachers. Dedicated to quantum science research and education, it hosts specialized labs and workshops on quantum technologies. CEQS co-organizes flagship events such as the International Conference on Quantum Science (ICQS-2025) with MNIT Jaipur, BIT Jaipur, and JNU Jaipur, fostering cutting-edge collaboration in quantum physics.
Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT), founded in 1984, is a national body committed to improving physics teaching in India. It administers national standard examinations in physics and related sciences, coordinates the Physics Olympiad selection process, and conducts teacher-training workshops. By nurturing top student talent and supporting educators at school and collegiate levels, IAPT strengthens the foundation of physics education nationwide.
The Materials Research Society of India came into existence in February 1989, thanks to the farsighted vision of Prof. C N R Rao. Prof. Rao functioned as the first President and laid the foundation for its impressive growth over the past decade. MRSI functions through 18 Regional Chapters and 16 Subject groups. MRSI is supported by individual members and institutions who will be patrons of the society. Its current membership includes 2745 Life members, 07 Annual members, 156 Honorary members and 83 Patron members amounting to a total of 2991 members. MRSI recognizes contributions to materials research through Distinguished Materials Scientist of the year Award, MRSI-ICSC Superconductivity and Materials Science Senior Award and MRSI Distinguished Lecturership Award. There are number of other prizes including the MRSI Medal Lectures. Every February an annual technical meeting is held. The hosting of IUMRS-ICA 98 meeting at Bangalore during October 13-16, 1998 was a major activity of MRSI. The Conference had 22 Theme Symposia and was held in 7 parallel sessions. More than 150 invited talks were delivered and nearly 700 contributed papers were presented. The proceedings of the Conference, consisting of the invited talks was published as a special issue of Bulletin of Materials Science. Another major activity was the hosting of IUMRS-ICAM 2007 meeting at Bangalore during October 8-13, 2007. The conference had 23 theme symposia, 6 plenary lectures and 250 invited talks. Around 1100 delegates attended the conference. The MRSI has been regularly publishing the MRSI Newsletter. This is a quarterly publication.. Several issues have been brought out successfully for the past ten years. MRSI co-sponsors the publication of Bulletin of Materials Science (BMS) published by the Indian Academy of Sciences. MRSI is a founding Adhering Body of the International Union of Materials Research Societies (IUMRS) and participates in the international arena of materials research.
